LONGVIEW— Treasure Valley and Chemeketa opened up day 2 of the championship in a must-win loser out game.

The first two innings breezed by silently with neither team scoring a run. In the third, Treasure Valley struck first with back to back RBI singles from Cole Jones and Nolan Jekich. The Chukars added 2 more in the 4th on a wild pitch and an RBI single from Chase Teter.

The big inning came in the 5th when Treasure vaulted to a 7 run lead on a 2 RBI double from Kade Hall. Chase Swainston also added an RBI single himself in the inning. Meanwhile, Chucker starting pitcher Tanner Cantwell would turn in a MVP-esque performance going the distance while only allowing 3 hits and striking out 10 Storm batters.

Treasure Valley also added another insurance run in the 8th from an RBI double by Teter. The Chukar short stop finished the day 2-4 with the 2 RBIs and a run scored.

The Chukars will face the loser of Pierce/Lower Columbia Saturday morning at 11:05am.

Game 2 featured Bellevue and Mt. Hood, two strong teams looking to rebound after less than stellar performances yesterday.

In the first, it was Bellevue taking the early lead on a sac fly from Jordan LaFave. The very next inning, Joe Wainhouse scored run number 2 on an RBI single from Shane Stober.

Mt. Hood countered in the third with an RBI single from Isaac Benard. After a quiet fourth inning from both teams, Bellevue scored 2 more in the fifth on an RBI single from LaFave and a sac fly from Evan Johnson.

Hood responded with 2 in the 7th off a Bellevue error during a Benard single. In the 9th with 2 outs and facing elimination, J.T. Williams scored on a pass ball to tie it up at 4-4.

Bellevue would get it right back in the bottom of the 9th on an errant throw from Williams allowing LaFave to score the game winning run from 2nd base. Anderson finished the day with a complete game win giving up 4 runs (2 earned) and striking out 10.

The Bulldogs will continue on to Saturday in another elimination game against the loser of Everett/Yakima Valley at 2:05pm.
