LONGVIEW— In the second elimination game of the day, both teams desperately needed to turn in strong pitching performances to earn a win and move on to Sunday to face Yakima Valley.

It wasn't until the top of the second when Treasure Valley struck first blood on a sac bunt from Chase Swainston. They scored again in the top the 4th on an RBI single from Kade Hall to make it 2-0.

Pierce scored one of their own in the 4th off a Rayven Kahana single.

In the 5th, the Pierce bats caught fire starting with a lead off home run from Mac McCarty. Gunnar Schubert kept the hit parade rolling with an RBI double and Matt Thompson capped it off with a 2-run single giving the Raiders the lead 5-2 and they did not look back.

The Chukars fought hard tallying 1 in the 6th on a ground out by Cody Dykstra. They scored another in the 8th on a Tyler Roper single to make it 5-4 but Pierce grabbed 2 insurance runs in the inning from back to back singles from  Carter Johnson and Schubert to make it 7-4.

Treasure Valley could not recover and fell short in the 9th. Micah Richardson picked up the win in relief while Tyson Cronin recorded a 4 out save striking out 2.

Pierce will face Yakima Valley on Sunday at 4:05pm.

The Tournament is double elimination format.
If undefeated Yakima Valley loses games 13 to Pierce, they will advance to the 'if game' game 15 on Monday at 3pm.  Pierce will then play in game 14 against the winner of  game 12 between Everett and Lower Columbia. View bracke
