LONGVIEW— It was a second consecutive 9th inning nail-biter for the Red Devils, who were on the winning side of last night's 2-1 win over Pierce in the bottom of the ninth after 8 scoreless innings.
This time David Story Field featured another night cap of 8 innings of scoreless ball between the Devils and the Yakima Valley Yaks.
In the 7th for Lower Columbia, 3 runners filled the bags with no outs but Yaks pitcher Hunter Boyd stayed composed and closed the inning with 2 strikes outs and a fly out to end the threat.
In the bottom of the 9th, the Yaks Karsten Sherman came within a few feet of a game winning home run but Kade Kryzsco made a game saving catch at the fence.
Warden would then walk the next batter putting Yak runners on first and second with 2 outs for Parker Depasquale.
Depasquale then lined a 1-1 fastball back up the middle to bring around Alec Chaney for the game winning score.
The win automatically advances Yakima Valley into the championship game even if they lose Sunday against Pierce (4:05pm) see notes below.
Lower Columbia will play Everett in an elimination game at 1:05pm
The Tournament is double elimination format.
If undefeated Yakima Valley loses game 13 to Pierce, they will advance to the 'if necessary game', game 15 on Monday at 3pm. Pierce will then play in game 14 against the winner of game 12 between Everett and Lower Columbia. View bracket
