Lower Columbia alum Bud Black leads the Rockies to MLB Playoffs
Bud Black played two years of baseball at LCC before embarking on a career in college and major league baseball as a pitcher, coach and manager.
Black still holds records at LCC as a left handed pitcher and his talent took him to San Diego State.
Black pitched 15 years in the Major Leagues, including a world championship with the 1985 Kansas City Royals. Black then won a championship as pitching coach with the Los Angeles Angels.
Black was the manager of the San Diego Padres where he won NL Manager of the Year in 2011. He is currently the Manger of the Colorado Rockies. This is the second consecutive year the Rockies have made the playoffs.
