Swanson to Lead Gator Baseball
Green River Athletics is pleased to announce Tanner Swanson as the Head Baseball Coach for the 2010-11 season. Previously an assistant coach and lecturer in physical education at Central Washington University, Coach Swanson has prepared himself well for the responsibilities of leading the Gator baseball team. "We are pleased that Coach Swanson will be joining our staff this season, stated GRCC Athletic Director Bob Kickner. "Swanson brings an educators perspective and a professional approach to our department. His previous familiarity with the NWAACC will be well received in the baseball community."
Prior to Central Washington, Swanson learned the ropes of community college baseball when he coached at Everett CC under the guide of Levi Lacey. As a player he was an All-NWAACC Western Region player for Green River in 2002 before finishing his playing career as a two year starter and All-Academic recipient at Central Washington University. In addition he played for three seasons with the Seattle Studs summer program leading to three trips to the National Baseball Congress World Series in Wichita, KS.
"Preparing young men to expand their awareness of selflessness and stewardship is the central responsibility of a leader," said Swanson. "I look forward to teaching and working the students under my care and to enhance the standard of excellence surrounding the Green River baseball program."
