Green River alum cracks Chicago Cubs bullpen
Former Green River Gator, David Patton (2002-04) earned one of the final roster spots for the Chicago Cubs bullpen and made his major league debut last night against the Houston Astros.

HOUSTON -- The brand-new neon-orange backpack was sitting near the bat bags and catchers' gear, just waiting for David Patton. And he can't wait.
Patton found out Sunday morning he had made the Cubs' Opening Day roster when he met with general manager Jim Hendry in his Houston hotel room. The right-hander, who has spent five seasons in Colorado's system but never pitched above the Class A level, is finally in the big leagues.
