Alexia Thrower, Canyon Springs HS / Las Vegas, NV., helped the Grays Harbor Chokers pull off a convincing upset win over 9th-ranked Centralia College 74-50.

Thrower ripped the nets for 26 points on 82% field goal average to go with 8-8 shooting from the free throw line. She also added 4 assists, 9 rebounds, 4 blocks and 3 steals to completely filled the stat sheet.

Alexia is currently 12th in scoring (18.6 ppg), 12th in rebounds (9.4 rpg), 14th in field goal percentage (50%), 17th in assists (3.6 apg) and 20th in steals (2.2 spg).

Luke Chavez, Sir Francis Drake HS / Marin, CA, filled the stat sheet last week in a game against Lower Columbia. He tallied 28 points on 50% shooting including 71% from the arc to go with 6 assists, 7 rebounds and 2 steals.

Chavez is currently 7th in assists (4.4 apg), 8th in steals (2.2 spg) and 5th in 3Pt Field goal percentage (47.1%).

He has been instrumental in leading 2nd-ranked South Puget Sound to a regular season West Region Championship (13-1) and an overall record of 22-5.

Cayla Jones, White Swan HS / White Swan, WA., turned in two consecutive weeks of stellar play to help lead the Columbia Basin Hawks to a playoff berth. In three games this past week she averaged 25.0 ppg on 46% shooting, 8.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists 2.8 steals and 1.7 blocks.

Her signature game was in a 82-68 win over #3 Spokane where Jones tallied 29 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals, 3 assists and a block.

Jones is currently 14 in scoring (17.1 ppg), 6th in steals (2.6 spg), 7th in assists (4.5 apg) and 2nd in free throw percentage (85.7%)

Gio Jackson, Todd Beamer HS / Federal Way, WA, was highly instrumental in a pair of wins for the Everett last week, keeping the Trojans in the playoff hunt.

Jackson tallied a 20.5 ppg average on 65% shooting (67% from the arc) to go with 7.5 assists per game and 9.5 rebounds per game.

His highlight was a triple-double against Skagit Valley where Jackson registered 27 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds to go with a steal and two blocks.

Jackson is currently 16th in the league in assists with 4.0 apg average.

Jordan Stotler, Roseburg HS / Camas Valley, OR, put on a dominating performance against #3-ranked Lane tallying a rare triple-double with 24 points, 15 rebounds and 10 blocks to go with 3 assists and 2 steals in the Riverhawks' 89-56 rout of the defending NWAC champions.

On the week, the four time player of the week averaged 18.0 ppg, 18.0 rbg, 7.5 blocks per game, 3.0 assists per game and 2.5 steals per game.

On the season, Stotler is 1st in blocks (4.1 bpg), 2nd in points (23.0 ppg), 3rd in rebounds (12.9 rpg), 13th in steals (2.3 spg), 15th in assists (3.7 apg) and 17th in free throw percentage (76.9%).

Sam Dowd, Gonzaga Prep School / Seattle, WA, turned in a pair of great performances in convincing wins against #7 Big Bend (101-82) and top-ranked Spokane (93-71).

Dowd averaged 23 points a game on a blistering 59% shooting performance, including 55% from the arc to go with 9 assists per game and 4.5 rebounds per game.

On the season, Dowd is currently 1st in assists (7.2 apg) and 15th in scoring (18.2 ppg).

Uju Chibuogwu, Shorecrest HS / Seattle, WA, shot 49% for an average of 24.5 ppg while averaging 6 assists, 13 rebounds, 2 steals and 3 blocks in wins over Whatcom and 7th-ranked Peninsula.

On the season, Chibuogwu is currently 11th in scoring (19.4 ppg), 8th in rebounding (9.7 rpg), 4th in blocks (2.3 bpg) and 16th in free throw average (77.6%).

Ryun Gibson, Gladstone HS / Gladstone, OR, was hot in the paint against Southwestern Oregon Saturday hitting 12 of 14 for 86% field goal shooting and 31 points while adding 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 1 block.

Gibson is currently 13th in rebounds (8.1 rpg), 8th in blocks (1.4 bpg) and 19th in field goal average (54.9%) on the season.

Dajanay Powell, McClymonds HS / Oakland, CA turned a stellar performance for the Riverhawks in two wins last week. She averaged 25.5ppg on 61% shooting to go with 13 rebounds per game, two steals and three blocks.

Overall, Powell is currently 7th in rebounds (9.8rpg), 9th in scoring (18.7 ppg), 3rd in field goal percentage (60.4%) and 14th in blocks (1.3 bpg).

Dana Abe, Odea HS / Seattle, WA, has been doing it all season for the Dolphins - filling the stat sheet. He had 34 points on 69% shooting including going 6/7 from the arc on 86% shooting to go with 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 block.

Overall, Abe is currently 3rd in the league in scoring (23.4 ppg), 14th in rebounds (7.7rpg), 14th in blocks (1.0 bpg) and 13th in 3-pt field goal percentage (42.9%).

Linsey Honeycutt, Ferndale HS / Ferndale, WA had another solid two game performances with a pair double-doubles averaging 30.5 ppg and 20.5 rebounds per game to go with 3 steals and 6 blocks.

This is Honeycutt's second section this season. She is 1st in the conference in scoring (29.33 ppg), 2nd in rebounds (15.4 rbg), 11th in blocks (1.53 bpg) and 9th in FG percentage (53.0%).

Grant Ellison, Weber HS / Ogden, UT, has helped lift 8th-ranked Umpqua Riverhawks to a 5-1 start in region play and 13-4 overall.

This weekend Ellison turned in a terrific performance with 31 points on 71% shooting from the field along with 6/6 from the free throw line, 5 assists and 4 rebounds.

Ellison is currently 5th overall in scoring with 22.47 ppg, 2nd in free throw percentage (89.3%) and 7th in 3-pt percentage (46.3%)

Jordan Stotler, Roseburg HS / Camas Valley, OR, led 2nd-ranked Umpqua to three wins this past week including a convincing 77-58 win over defending NWAC Champion & 3rd-ranked Lane Titans.

Stotler registered 24.7 ppg, 14.7 rebounds per game, 2.3 assists per game and tallied an amazing 17 blocked shots (5.7bpg). She nearly compiled a rare feat when she was one block away from a triple double against Clackamas (28pts, 14rebounds, 9 blocks).

This is Stotler's third Under Armour Player of the Week this season. She is in the top twenty in seven of eight categories: Scoring 2nd - 23.9ppg; Rebounds 3rd - 13.3rpg; Blocks 1st 4.11 bpg; Assists 14th 3.8apg; Steals 2.2 spg; Free Throw Average 12th 78.9% and Field Goal Average 20th 48.5%.

Pepe Hernandez, Chief Sealth HS / Seattle, WA, has been a force for the Tritons all season. In a pair of games this past week he tallied a 26.5 ppg average on 54% shooting from the field to go with 6.0 assists per game, 6.5 rebounds per game and 5 steals.

Hernandez is all over the leaderboard averaging 24.0 ppg (3rd), 9.9 rebounds per game (6th), 6.1 assists per game (3rd), 2.1 steals per game (11th) and is shooting 54.4% (17th).

Linsey Honeycutt, Ferndale HS / Ferndale, WA has been an explosive force for the Orcas this season. She tallied a staggering 89 points in two games last week (44.5 ppg on 55% shooting) ) and added 29 boards (14.5 rpg)

After finishing the 2016 campaign in the top three in scoring (22.8 ppg) and rebounds (12.0 rpg) as well as 13th in blocks (0.9 bpg) and 12th in field goal percentage (52.2%) - Honeycutt is now tops in scoring (30.6 ppg) and second in rebounds (15.1 rpb).

She is also 13th in blocks (1.7 bpg) and 8th in field goal percentage (55.2%).

Darrion Daniels, Valley HS / Las Vegas, NV, registered 50 points for a 25.0 ppg average and dished 14 assists to go with 9 boards while leading the Pirates to wins over Shoreline and Everett this past week.

Daniels is now 19th in the NWAC in scoring (17.46 ppg), 7th in assists (4.5 apg) and 19th in steals (1.9 spg).

Sammi Blodgett, Wapato HS / Wapato, WA., led the Yaks to wins over #5-ranked Columbia Basin and North Idaho.

Blodgett averaged 26.0 ppg on 66% FG percentage, 5 assists per game, 4.5 rebound per game and 3.5 steals per game.

She is currently #6 in the NWAC in scoring (19.6 ppg), #2 in steals (42 / 3.2 spg), #3 in 3pt average (42.6%), #17 in FG% (50.2%) and 20th in assists (3.38 apg).

Caulin Bakalarski, South Kitsap HS / Port Orchard, WA., was instrumental in Walla Walla's 111-106 win over 2-ranked Spokane.

Bakalarski filled the stat sheet scoring 25 points on 9-19 shooting including 4-8 from the arc, 8 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 rejections and only allowed 1 turnover.

He is currently 7th in the NWAC in scoring (21.8 ppg), 5th in rebounds (9.3 rbg) and 11th in blocks (1.1 bpg).

Jordan Stotler, Roseburg HS / Camas Valley, OR, led Umpqua to a 2-1 record at the Red Devil Holiday Classic and was named to the all-tournament team.

In three games, Stotler turned in 23/50 shooting (46%) for an average of 21.3 ppg and 15 rebounds per game to go with her 4.3 assists per game, 4 steals and 7 blocked shots.

This is Stotler's second Under Armour selection this season. She currently ranks 3rd in the league in scoring (22.9 ppg), 4th in rebounds (13.5 rpg), first in blocks (50 / 3.85 bpg), 8th in steals (32 / 2.46 spg), 12th in assists (4.1 apg), 11th in free throw percentage (77.6) and 18th in field goal percentage (50.0%)

Jacob McCord, Westlake HS / Westlake, UT,  led Big Bend to a 2-1 record at the Fiesta Bowl Shootout in Mesa, AZ this past weekend.

McCord went 34/61 (56% from the field, including 53% from the arc) tallying a 33 ppg average, 14.67 rebounds a game to go with 4 steals and 4 blocks.

His top performance was against Mesa CC (9-3) where he put up 40 points on 67% shooting including 7-11 (53%) from the arc and 13 rebounds. McCord was named to the all-tournament team.

McCord is currently leading the NWAC is scoring with a 28.9 ppg average and is second in rebounds with a 11.0 boards per game.

Savannah McGill, River Ridge HS / Lacey, WA, Led South Puget Sound to a 3-0 record at the South Puget Sound Crossover including a win over 7-2 Treasure Valley. 

McGill went to the line 17 times and shot 88% from the stripe, averaged 20 points, 24.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.3 blocks.  Her performance earned her tournament MVP honors.

McGill is currently 14th in the NWAC in Scoring (17.43 ppg), 10th in blocked shots (1.71 bpg), and 1st in Rebounds (19.3 rpg) and 12th in Free Throw average with 77.5%.    

McGill also holds NWAC single season rebounding record (456) and has already recorded another 135 rebounds on the season.

Levi Taylor, Lewis & Clark HS / Spokane, WA,  helped lead defending NWAC champions and currently ranked # 1 Spokane (10-2) to 3 wins at Spokane CC Crossover this past weekend including a 98-79 win over  #6 ranked Bellevue.

During the 3 games, Taylor Shot 50% from the floor on 27/54 shooting including 13/23 from beyond the arc.  He averaged 28 points, 3.67 assists, 6.67 rebounds and 2.33 steals. 

Taylor was named Tournament MVP when he led the Sasquatch to the 2016 NWAC Championship. He is currently 9th in scoring with a 20.1 ppg average and is 18th in assists with 3.92 apg.

Brenda Akoto, Bothell HS, Bothell, WA, was a key piece in a Bulldog lineup that won their opener over Wenatchee Valley then shocked top-ranked Lane 57-44 and cruised past Clackamas in the title game to win the Pierce Holiday Tournament. Her performance earned her tournament MVP honors.

Akoto went 18/30 on 60% shooting for a 15.7 ppg average, dished 1.3 assists, collected 11.33 rebounds while picking 5 steals and rejecting 8 shot attempts.

Akoto is currently 13th in the league with 16.43 ppg, 12th with 8.86 rebounds per game, 6th in blocks per game with 1.86 and 8th in field goal percentage with 56.1%.

Khalil Thompson, Centennial HS, Las Vegas, NV, was instrumental in Tacoma's 3 game run at the Dale Bates Tournament where the unranked Titans defeated #1-ranked Spokane, #4 SW Oregon and Umpqua en route the championship.

On the weekend, Thompson went 21/41 from the arc (51%) while averaging 28.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.0 assists and picked 5 steals while only committing 3 fouls.

Thompson is currently 2nd in the league in scoring with 27.5 ppg, 13th in steals per game with 2.13 and 16th in free throw average with 85.1%

Hussayn Ford, Kentridge HS/ Kentridge, WA, put up strong numbers in three games vs. top opponents North Idaho, Big Bend, and Spokane. 

Pierce went 2-1 on the weekend taking a 2nd place finish at Big Foot-Cardinal Classic.  Ford and the Raiders stunned nationally ranked North Idaho 99-90 on their home floor.  He shot 65% from the floor on 24/37 shooting, averaged 20 ppg, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.3 steals during the tournament.

In a pair games vs. Portland and Clark, Bobbi Westendorf, Kentridge HS / Auburn, WA, tallied 22 points per game, 14.50 rebounds per game, 3 steals per game and 3 blocks per game in leading the Titans to victory and improving to 4-1 on the season.

Westendorf is currently 3rd in NWAC scoring with 22.6 ppg, 2nd in rebounds with 14.8 rbg. 3rd in blocks with 15 (3.0 bpg) and 20th in 3-Pt field goal percentage with 50.0%.

Jordan Stotler, Roseburg HS / Camas Valley, OR, led Umpqua to a 1st place finish at the Clackamas Thanksgiving invite.  She averaged 22.7 points, 4.7 assists, 15.0 rebounds, 2.7 steals, and 4.0 blocks in three games. 

In the championship game, Stotler put on a 29 point, 19 rebound, 7 block performance against Clackamas, playing all 40 minutes and was named tournament MVP.

Brevin Brown, Cascade HS / Everett, WA, led Everett to 1st place finish at the Red Devil Classic earning MVP honors. He averaged 22.3 points, 2.0 steals, and shot 11/19 (58%) from the arc.

In the championship match, Brown torched Spokane for 22 points on 62% shooting including 50% from the arc to go along with 3 boards and 3 steals.

DREAMSEAT Basketball Players of the Week - Feb 24

VANCOUVER, Wa. - The Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges has named its DreamSeat/Seating Solutions Basketball Players of the Week for February 24, 2014.

MEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Feb 24

Freshman Guard

Chemeketa Community College freshman guard Bryce White has been named the DreamSeat/Seating Solutions Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges’ Player of the Week for February 24.

White helped keep Chemeketa’s (13-13; 9-5) playoff hopes alive in a 95-88 win last Saturday over Lane (12-16; 5-9). The win Saturday forced a win-or-go-home playoff match-up with Southern Region Rival Mt. Hood Community College (Monday, Feb. 24).

White started the week scoring 44 points on 15-23 shooting (65%) along with 11 rebounds, two assists, and a steal in a loss to Southern Region Co-Champions Portland Community College.

With a potential playoff bid on the line, White followed-up his performance with a 32-point (11-12; 92%), seven-rebound, three-steal, one-block outing in Chemeketa’s win over Lane. The win kept Chemeketa’s playoff hopes alive and forced a playoff match-up for the fourth and final seed in the Southern Region vs Mt. Hood.

The Portland, Oregon native will finish as the league’s third leading scorer this season with a 27.6 points-per-game average. Additionally, White will rank 15th in assists (3.76) per game. Currently, White is 19th in FG% with a 54.3% average, and 12th in FT% shooting 79.7% this season.

WOMEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Feb 24

Community Colleges of Spokane sophomore center Morgan Freeman is the DreamSeat/Seating Solutions Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges Player of the Week for February 24.

Freeman helped Spokane clinch a berth in the NWAACC tournament with two wins this week over Yakima Valley (4-10; 8-19) and Big Bend (16-12; 6-8).

The win over Big Bend allowed Spokane to jump Big Bend in the standings and secure the East Region’s fourth seed.

Against Yakima Valley, Freeman shot 11-20 (55%) to score 26 points along with 10 rebounds, and three blocks in Spokane’s 65-48 win. Freeman followed up with 18 points (8/16; 50%), 11 rebounds, three steals, and one block in Spokane’s 72-59 win over Big Bend. Freeman averaged a double-double on the week with 22 points and 10.5 rebounds-per-game.

The Richland, Washington native finished 14th in NWAACC FT% at 75.9% on the season.

Edmondson helped keep Portland’s (18-8; 9-3) Southern District championship bid alive in wins over Mt Hood (19-6; 8-4) and Lane (12-14; 5-7). Portland, winners of three-in-a-row, now sits atop the South Region standings with a one game lead. Four other teams are currently tied for second place with 8-4 league records.

In Portland’s 85-77 win over Mt Hood, Edmondson scored 18 points on eight shots (6/8; 75%) including four-of-five on three point attempts. Edmondson also collected three assists, two rebounds, and one steal.

During Portland’s 72-66 win over Lane, Edmondson poured in 26 points, along with 14 rebounds, five assists, and three steals.

Edmondson finished the week averaging 22 points, eight rebounds, and four assists on 50% shooting.

The Vancouver, Washington native is currently 14th in NWAACC Free-throw shooting at 81.3% on the season.  

David WareDavid Ware, Everett
Sophomore, Guard

Ware led Everett College (12-14; 3-9) to a 80-72 win over North Region opponent Peninsula Community College (11-10; 5-7).

Ware collected 17 points, and 12 assists, grabbed four rebounds, and two steals, and zero turnovers in Everett’s win over Peninsula.  

In an 84-92 loss to Skagit Valley (17-8; 10-2), Ware added 22 points, nine assists, 10 rebounds, and two steals.

Ware averaged a double-double over the week with a 19.5 scoring average, and 10.5 assists per game. Ware was one assist shy of a triple-double in his game vs Skagit Valley. Ware also finished with a 3:1 assist-to-turnover ratio on the week.

The Las Vegas, Nevada native is first in NWAACC assists with 8.62 per game, and leads the NWAACC with 224 assists on the year. Ware is second in steals at 3.04 per-game. Ware leads the league in total steals with 79.

WOMEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Feb 17

Sophomore Guard

Clackamas Community College sophomore guard Laci Effenberger is the DreamSeat/Seating Solution Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges Player of the Week for February 17.

Effenberger led Clackamas (18-6; 7-4) with 22 points, and seven rebounds in a 54-60 loss to Chemeketa Community College (15-10; 6-4). She tallied three steals, two assists, and one block in the contest.

Effenberger followed up with 26 points, seven rebounds, one steal, and eight assists in Clackamas’s 81-66 win over South Region #1 Umpqua (20-6; 9-2), a win that sealed a trip to the 2014 NWAACC tournament for the Cougars.

The Ketchikan, Alaska native is second in NWAACC assists with 6.3 per-game; 13th in NWAACC scoring at 17 points-per-game; ninth in steals with a 2.7 average; and 15th in 3PT% at 36.4%.
