The North Idaho College athletics department hosted an on campus public forum yesterday, with four men’s basketball players participating in National Signing Day for the NCAA.

Many major Division I schools and Division II schools have been recruiting several NIC players all year.

Sophomore team captain Sam Dowd (Federal Way, WA), committed to NCAA Division I Idaho State University. Dowd averaged 17 points and an NWAC league leading 7 assists.

Zaequan “Ziggy” Satterthwaite (Puyullap, WA) signed to play at Point Loma University, an NCAA Division II program in San Diego.

Ziggy averaged 14 points and 8 rebounds, and both he and fellow sophomore Dowd finished their Cardinal careers tied for the school record for wins, at 56.

Marcus Golder, a red-shirt freshmen from Clackamas, OR, signed with NCAA Division I Valparaiso University in Indiana after he was named Freshman of the Year in the NWAC East Region. He averaged 19 points and 7 rebounds on 55 percent shooting from the field.

Niko Bevens, a true freshmen from Beaverton, OR, signed to play at NCAA Division I University of Montana.  He ended the year shooting 50 percent from the 3 point line, making 111 threes throughout the season.

Four other Cardinals sophomores are expected to sign at 4 year schools in the next few weeks. For additional information, contact Head Men’s Basketball Coach Corey Symons.
