For nine members of the Pierce College Raiders women’s basketball team, this Thanksgiving holiday is even more meaningful because of the children at Mary Bridge Hospital.
The players and coaches made two visits to the Intensive Care Ward at the Tacoma hospital on Oct. 27 and Nov. 3. They talked with the children about their interests and their experiences at Mary Bridge. The players and coaches also gave the children autographed basketballs signed by the entire Raiders women’s basketball team.
“I believe our girls left with an altered perception on life. We are blessed in so many ways,” said head coach Brian Purugganan. “There is no greater joy than to see smiles on the children's faces.”
Team members who participated in the visits to Mary Bridge were Jonnae Brown, Jessica Bush, Emily Cartwright, Janay Creamer, Haley Hancock, Jennifer Rea, Taylor Riley, Unique Taufa’asau, Laci White, and coaches Brian Purugganan, Michael Highsmith, Johnny Bell, and Tawanna Dial.
