2015 Cross Country Athletes of the Week - Week 8
Men's Cross Country - Week 8
Skagit Valley, Freshman
-- Event: 8 Kilometer Cross Country; Mark: 26:18 at NWAC NorthWest Region Championships
Nominator Comments: "Collin had a collegiate breakthrough performance by placing 4th at the NW regional meet. He was 14 seconds out of 2nd place against a field of Everett runners who beat him weeks earlier by over 1 1/2 minutes. Collin's resilient approach to a season that began uncertain speaks well for his determination and commitment to the sport. He had every reason to make excuses and quit the sport but chose to give it his best with the late transition of coach changes, program uncertainty and minimal meet opportunities. He has continued to improve each week and his NW Regional result speaks volumes in resilience and competitive spirit."
Women's Cross Country - Week 8
-- Event: 5 Kilometer Cross Country; Mark: 19:17 at NWAC Southern Region Championships
Nominator Comments: "Danielle either led, co-led with her teammate or lurked behind the leader until about 600m to go before bursting to the front to win the Southern Region championship race. This is her first-ever win in a cross country race, giving her a lot of confidence for the remainder of the season and spring track."
