Lane and Spokane claim 2017 Cross Country Championships
MEN'S RESULTS | WOMEN'S RESULTS
LACEY, WA - Lane's men made the most of first year head coach Bill Steyer's inaugural season in the NWAC as the Titans edged Spokane 42 to 47 to win the 2017 NWAC Men's Cross Country Championship. Treasure Valley claimed third with 64 points.
Lane freshman Andy Muha (26:47.30) topped sophomore teammate Michael Martin (26:56.90) by 9 seconds to claim the men's title. The pair had been topping NWAC results all season long while claiming five of the six men's Athlete of the Week awards. Titan freshman Moises Martinez added to the score finishing in the top 7 to make the NWAC All-American list.
Spokane freshman Ethan Green finished third (27:23.60) to head the list for the Sasquatch with sophomore teammate Will Medellin taking fifth.
Treasure Valley freshman Delia Deleon (18:29.20) cruised to victory by 11 seconds over Spokane freshman Micaela Kostecka (18:41.40) to win the women's championship. Lane sophomore Carly Kleefeld (19:35.20) was a distant third followed closely by Treasure Valley sophomore Indya Price (19:36.40).
The Spokane Women took the Championship with a score of 41 to runner-up Treasure Valley's 45. Lane took third with 84 points, just edging Clark who tallied 86.
Lane head coach Bill Steyer was named the Men's Coach of the Year while Treasure Valley's Blas Guerra was named the Women's Coach of the Year.
