Mike Hodges started his 27-year career in community college athletics at SWOCC where he was athletic director and head coach in cross country and track.

Hodges came to Clackamas in 1986 and turned the Cougar cross country and track programs around. He coached Clackamas to NWAACC titles in men's cross country (5), women's cross country (4), combined team cross country (8), men's track (4) and women's track (1).

During the 1991-92 season, the Cougars took all NWAACC titles in cross country and track. Hodges was named NWAACC Coach of the Year ten times, OCCAA Coach of the Year four times and Southern Region Coach of the Year seven times.

He also had international coaching assignments to Russia, Sudan and El Salvador and was associate coach of the Sudanese Olympic team in 1988.
