Bill was a men's basketball player for the Red Devils during the 1978-79 and 1979-90 seasons. Bill was named to the 1980 All-Tournament team and was also a Region II First Team All-Star. During the 1979-80 season, Bill led Region II in scoring with 20.9 points per game and was second in rebounding average with 11.2 per game. He holds the single game record for rebounds(26) and career field goal percentage(61%) at LCC. After Lower Columbia, he received a basketball scholarship to Gonzaga University where he was the Zag's first ever AP All-American Honorable mention in 1982. He was also a first team all-West Coast Conference selection and is the career Gonzaga field goal percentage record holder at 62.5%.
