Larry Beatty was a two-year letter winner in track at Green River Community College and was the 400 meter hurdle champion in the 1984 NWAACC conference meet.

He went on to run track at the University of Portland before beginning coaching career as an assistant track coach and associate head coach for cross country at Western Oregon State college (now known as Western Oregon University).

In 1994, Beatty became the head track and field coach at Clark College and in his two years there they won two NWAACC titles. Beatty took over as the head coach at the Community Colleges of Spokane in 1996 and since that time, his men's and women's teams have won 31 NWAACC championships.

He has been named league and conference Coach of the Year numerous times and has coached 329 NWAACC All-Americans, 271 NWAACC Individual Champions and 7 NAIA All-Americans.

Coach Beatty is currently a physical education faculty member for the Community Colleges of Spokane.
