Was a NJCAA All-American track athlete for Cougars in 1978 where she led them to OCCAA and NJCAA titles. Won three events at the OCCAA meet and was the 400 meter hurdles national champion. Still holds two school records. She attended the University of Oregon where she was a two-time All-American for the Ducks.

Ondieki then went on to represent Australia in the Olympic Games in 1984, 1988 and 1992. Won Silver Medal in the marathon in 1988 and won the New York and Pittsburgh marathons in 1992.

During her career, she won eight marathons and finished runner in another seven. She won golf at the 1986 and 1990 Commonwealth Games.

Ondieki was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 1997, the inaugural Clackamas CC Hall of Fame in 2010 and the Athletics Australia Hall of Fame in 2014.
