Annette Sandberg

Big Bend Community College
Class of 1997

Annette Sandberg played basketball at Big Bend Community College during the 1979-80 and 1980-81 seasons. She went on to earn an appointment with the Washington State Patrol as a trooper in 1984.

From there, Sandberg was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 1993. In 1995, she was appointed by Governors Gary Locke and Mike Lowry as the Chief of the Washington State Patrol(1995-2001) becoming the first woman in the country to head a state police agency.

Sandberg is nationally recognized in the field of Department of Transportation safety. She is a frequent speaker at transportation industry seminars.

Sandberg has a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Puget Sound School of Law and is a member of the Washington and Alaska Bar Association.
