Prior to becoming the head coach of Lane Community Colleges men’s basketball team, Jim had an outstanding playing career at Lewis & Clark where he was a four-year starter and earned All-American honors. After graduating, he was drafted by the New York Knicks in 1964. He earned a Masters of Physical Education from the University of Southern California. He later earned a doctorate from Oregon State University in 1983. Jim was Lane’s head coach from 1991-2003. During his tenure, his teams went 241-105, won five Southern Region titles and won the NWAACC title during the 1991-92 season. His team was second in 1999 and third in 1998. Jim was voted as the Southern Region Coach of the Year five times. Jim was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame and the NAIA Hall of Fame in 1990.
