Kyle played basketball at Clackamas from 1992-1994. During the 1992-93 season, Dixon averaged 7.5 assists per game. He was named to the Southern Region All-Star Second Team and to the All-tournament team. In the 1993-94 campaign, Dixon averaged 8.1 assists per game and 14.7 points per game. That season, he was named the Southern Region's Most Valuable Player and lead the Cougars to 1994 NWAACC championship. Dixon was named the 1994 tournament MVP. After finishing at Clackamas, Dixon went on to play for Gonzaga and helped lead the Bulldogs to the first NCAA tournament appearance and was twice named to the West Coast Conference First Team.
