Lloyd Stannard

Lloyd Stannard

Community Colleges of Spokane
Class of 1990

Stannard started his career in education in 1938 as a high school teacher/coach before moving into administration in 1941. He was a superintendent of schools at three different school districts in Washington over a 20 year span.

Dr. Johnson named Stannard as the President of Spokane Community College (SCC) in 1974. He proved to be a great choice and was a very strong supporter of the athletic program at SCC. Under his leadership SCC became one of the strongest advocates for starting female sports throughout the state community college system. He was also instrumental in the success SCC female sports enjoyed at the regional and national level.

In recognition of his support for community college athletics, Stannard has been named to the Community College of Spokane Hall of Fame and the NWAACC Hall of Fame Roll of Honor.
