He served as the Head Men's Basketball Coach from 1969-1976, during which time his teams compiled a 117-77 won-loss record. In the 1970-71 season Coach Parker led his team to a 23-6 record and a second place finish in the NWAACC Tournament, eventually losing to Tacoma in the final game. During Coach Parker's seven year coaching career at Walla Walla Community College his teams scored 100 or more points in a single game forty-one times, including a 141 point explosion in his first career game as a college coach. those 141 points remains a school record to this day. Coach Parker's style of play, along with his flamboyant coaching style, became the standard for which all WWCC basketball coaches have been measured. His teams and his charismatic personality became so ingrained in the Walla Walla community that the local YMCA where Coach Parker's teams played their home games was affectionately named "Parker's Pit", not only for their great success but for the exciting persona that surrounded his program.
