Dick Humphries

Columbia Basin College
Class of 1989

Dick joined the U.S. Army and achieved the rank of Sergeant while being stationed in Austria. After returning to the States, he went on to become a Teacher, Coach, and, eventually, Principal for Pateros High School. While at Pateros High, Dick was the Head Football, Basketball and Baseball Coach from 1955 to 1962. He was later employed as Principal at Liberty (Spangle) High School and as a Guidance and Athletic Administrator for Columbia Basin Community College in Pasco, spending 30 years in Education overall. Dick was the JV Basketball and Baseball Coach at Columbia Basin College from 1965 to 1968 and went on to become the Director of Guidance at Columbia Basin College from 1972 to 1986. He served as Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) Athletic Commissioner from 1968 to 1986, and was elected to the NWAACC Hall of Fame in 1989.
