As men's cross country coach, his 1995 team was the first Oregon school to win an NWAACC championship since the Oregon schools joined the Association in 1983. Won the last OCCAA title in that sport in 1982.

Was the NWAACC men's cross country Coach of the Year in 1985. His tenure as head men's track and cross country coach spanned eight years between 1980-1987. Also served as the Titans' athletic director, athletic commissioner, as well as NWAACC Executive Board member. Earned the Dutch Triebwasser Athletic Administrator of the Year Award in 1999. He was a very vocal advocate for Lane athletics during very difficult budget times, able to maintain the school's sports offering as well as reinstating sports that were previously cut.
