Phyllis Templin

Tacoma Community College
Class of 2007

Came to TCC in 1976 as softball coach and went on to become the NWAACC's first female athletic director, serving between the 1978-79 and 1990-91 seasons in that position. Served 18 seasons as the Titans' women athletic commissioner and earned the Dutch Triebwasser Athletic Administrator of the Year award in 1998. A member of the NWAACC Executive Board for eight years, she was the board's second female chairperson in 1995-96 and 1996-97. Also chaired the softball, golf and tennis committees seven times. She fought very hard for equality for women's sports and the issues of women's athletics, looking for ways that would not detract or take away from men's athletics.
