Mt Hood wins 2006 NWAACC Volleyball Championship

2006 NWAACC Championship Game Spokane, WA-The Mt Hood Saints won their first NWAACC Volleyball Championship since 2002 as they put away Clackamas CC in four games. Clackamas put up a fight managing to win a game against the Saints who had previously not dropped a single game in the three day tournament. Led by the tournaments most valuable player Jamie Richards, Mt Hood dominated their competition. Richards led the Saints with 21 kills. Beth Perkins played an intrigal role in the Mt Hood victory with 18 kills and 27 digs. The offense was run to perfection by Jean Rho who had 37 assists and Chy Crichton who had 24 assists. Clackamas was led by Malia Kamahoahoa who had 9 kills, 25 assists and 13 digs. Rhea Wortman had 13 kills for the Cougars and 21 digs. Wortman also led the tournament in kills with 117 (6.16/game). The 2006 championship is Mt Hood's seventh in NWAACC history. Their last championship was in 2002 when Lena Chan led the team to her first title. Chan was named the NWAACC Volleyball Championship Coach of the Tournament. 2006 NWAACC Champions
