Former Clipper Nathan Salveson returns to coach SPSCC men's soccer squad

Nathan SalvesonFormer South Puget Sound Community College goalkeeper Nathan Salveson is returning to the pitch for the Clippers. Athletic Director Pam Charpentier announced that Salveson is the new coach of the men’s soccer program.

“We are excited to have Nate rejoin Clipper Athletics,” Charpentier said. “He brings skills, knowledge and experience that will help our men’s soccer program become more competitive in the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) Southern Region and becoming a championship caliber program.”

Salveson played for the Clippers in the 2004 and 2005 seasons, earning team Most Valuable Player honors both years, and helping SPSCC to its best finish in team history when the squad went 15-5-3 in 2004 and finished as the runners-up in the NWAACC championship tournament.

After graduating from SPSCC, Salveson continued his career at The Evergreen State College, and has played semi-professionally and professionally since, including a stint with Bremerton’s Kitsap Pumas of the Premier Arena Soccer League.

“My goal is to provide skills through the game that the players can use in all aspects of life, even after their playing days are over,” Salveson said. “Developing the mind and providing student-athletes with the tools to excel in any team environment, on the field, in the classroom, and in life, provides the foundation to build program success.”

Salveson takes over a program that finished 6-10-1 in the NWAC in 2013.
