Green River coach Stu Snow leads state soccer champions to Special Olympics USA Games
Green River College Women’s Soccer Head Coach, Stuart Snow and his Washington Special Olympics 2017 State Champion Soccer Team, Federal Way Thunder Blue, have been named Team Washington and will be competing in the Special Olympics USA Games in July.
This is Coach Snow’s 10th year coaching for Special Olympics for the City of Federal Way.
The 2018 Special Olympics USA Games will be held in Seattle July 1-6, 2018.
Team Washington is made up of athletes, unified partners and coaches from 14 different sports. Basketball, bowling, Bocce, Flagg Football, Golf, Gymnastics, Powerlifting, Soccer, Softball, Standup Paddle Boarding, Swimming, Tennis, and Volleyball.
All teams have qualified and were selected by competing at a Special Olympics Championship State Tournament in 2017.
“Green River is pleased for Coach Snow and the Thunder to represent Washington state in the USA Special Olympic Games,” stated Director of Athletics Bob Kickner. “Coach Snow has been a great ambassador for soccer in the South Sound region and this is a well deserved honor for his coaching ability.”
Coach Snow completed his ninth season for the Gator women’s soccer team. He has amassed over 50 wins and his 2011 and 2016 teams posted the best two records in school history.
