Treasure Valley won the first team championship in any sport in school history with their win today at the 2014 NWAACC Men’s Tennis Championships!  The Chukars won 3 singles titles and a doubles title on route to 129 points, 7 more than second place Spokane with 122.  Skagit Valley came in 3rd with 109 points.

Singles Champions Nao Iwamoto &
 Rixing XU

Skagit Valley’s Nao Iwamoto won the single’s championship.  The freshman from Japan defeated Spokane’s Blake Lynd 6-0, 6-4 then won a marathon match with Treasure Valley’s Jonahs Joudrey 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.

TVCC Sophomore Jonahs Joudrey finished out his NWAACC career winning the doubles title with teammate Brandon Nguyen.  The pair defeated singles champ Nao Iwamoto & teammate Thomas Sparda from Skagit Valley 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 in addition to  Spokane’s Blake Lynd & Ish Teshome 7-5, 6-4 in the round robin tournament.

Head Coach for the Chukars, Mark Heleker was named Men’s Coach of the Year.

In the women’s tournament, Bellevue’s Rixing Xu repeats as NWAACC champion, defeating Skagit Valley’s Kille Beuse 6-1, 6-0.  Xu also repeats as doubles champion, this time with teammate Kristy Braunston.  The pair bounced back from a first set loss to defeat Beuse and teammate Hayley Newman 1-6, 6-1, 6-1.

Bellevue avenges last year’s team loss to Skagit Valley with a narrow 5-point win over Spokane to claim the team title.  The Cardinals had broken an 8-year Bulldog-winning streak last season.  Bellevue collected only one singles title and one doubles title en route to their team title, managing to win the big point matches to hold off Spokane’s 4 singles titles and 2 double titles.

Bellevue Head Coach Jason Chapman was named Women’s Coach of the Year.
