2016 Spring Sports Baden Players/Athletes of the Year

WOMEN'S TENNIS
MORIAH AUSTIN
Freshman, Bellevue
Moriah went undefeated in NWAC singles and doubles play, and lead Bellevue to its 3rd straight team championship. Moriah's only 4 losses on the year came from 4-year university opponents.

MEN'S TENNIS
SCOTTIE ZIEGNER
Freshman, Treasure Valley
Scottie went undefeated in NWAC singles play, and recorded just one loss in doubles on his way to an NWAC singles and doubles championship. Ziegner's only single defeat of the year came from an
NCAA Division III opponent.

MEN'S GOLF
HALEN DAVIS
Sophomore, Skagit Valley
Davis had 6 top ten finishes and medaled in two league matches. He shot a 76 and a 71 at the NWAC Championships, earning him an 8th place overall finish.

WOMEN'S GOLF
NICOLE MILLER
Freshman, North Idaho
Nicole had three top 5 finishes in invitational tournaments, and was a medalist in 3 of 4 league matches before placing 2nd in an exciting playoff at the NWAC Championship tournament. Miller's two day +8 at the Championship helped lead the Cardinals to the 2016 NWAC Title.

WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
RUBIE CORDEY
Freshman, Lane
Cordey was named the high point winner of the 2016 Track and Field Championships (39 points) after finishing 4th in the triple jump (35'7 "), 3rd in the long jump (17'2 "), 2nd in the 200 meter dash (25.15s), and 1st in the 400 meter run (55.61s). Cordey also placed 4th in the Heptathalon with a total score of 3971.

MEN'S TRACK & FIELD
GRANT SHURTLIFF
Sophomore, Lane
Shurtliff was name the high point winner of the 2016 Track and Field Championships (38 points) after finishing 6th in the 110 meter hurdles (15.47s), 4th in the 400 meter hurdles (55.64s), 3rd in the high jump (6'3 "), 2nd in the pole vault (15'1"), 2nd in the triple jump (46'8 "). Shurtliff also won the Decathalon with a total score of 6587.

SOFTBALL
KAYLA BYERS
Sophomore, Mt. Hood, Pitcher
Byers was 3rd in the NWAC in Strikeouts (191), 2nd in wins (23), to lead the NWAC in ERA at 1.62. In addition to dominate pitching, Byers was 2nd on the team in batting average (.436), 2nd in home runs (7) and 1st in RBI's (28).

Byers did it all on the field to lead the saints to a South Region Championship and capped off the season with an undefeated tournament run to claim Mt. Hood's 5th NWAC Softball Championship.

BASEBALL
JAKE VIETH

Sophomore, Tacoma, 1st Base
Vieth was 2nd in the NWAC in batting average (.405), 2nd in home runs (7) and 3rd in RBI's (41). Additionally, Vieth was named to the 2016 ABCA/Rawlings Pacific Division All-America First Team and was the NWAC Western Region 1B Gold Glove selection.

During Vieth's two years at TCC he helped lead the Titans to a two season combined total of 70-27 and a 3rd place finish in 2015. Vieth will play baseball next year at Gonzaga University.
