Bellevue, Shoreline, Spokane and Skagit Valley still in the hunt for Tennis Championships

Day one of the 2013 NWAACC Tennis Championships has completed.

Shoreline's Yasser Kahn and Skagit Valley's Riley Newman advanced to the men's singles championship. Kahn, a member of Shoreline's 2012 doubles championship team and the 2012 singles runner-up defeated Treasure Valley's Paul Spivey 6-0, 6-1 while 2012 singles champion Newman defeated Spokane's Ryan Herdt 6-1, 6-3.

In men's doubles action, Herdt and Sam Jankovich won a hard fought battle against Kahn and teammate Shota Murai 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 to advance to the final against Newman and Kory Anderson who easily dispatched the Treasure Valley team of Jonahs Joudrey and Spivey 6-1, 6-1.

Men's Brackets

On the women's court, Skagit Valley's Sarah Tuemmler defeated Treasure Valley's Jami Farmer 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the championship match against Bellevue's Rixing Xu who defeated Spokane's Sara Letsch 6-2, 6-0.

Xu also made the doubles championship title match with teamate Sadie Dedon. The duo cruised past TVCC's Farmer & Jasmine Jensen 6-1, 6-2 to advance to the title game against Skagit Valley's Christa Spitler & Sarah Tuemmler. Spitler and Tuemmler battled to victory in three sets 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 over Spokane's combo of Sydney Obstar and Dru Sanchez.

Women's Brackets

Action resumes Saturday at 9am at Spokane Falls Community College.
