Riley Newman

SPOKANE -- Spokane won four of six singles championship matches and two of three doubles title matches to easily cruise to its fourth straight men's tennis championship Saturday in Spokane under sunny conditions.

The Sasquatch outscored runner-up Shoreline 131-89 while Skagit Valley took third (89 pts) followed by Treasure Valley (58 pts).

Reigning men's singles champion Riley Newman of Skagit Valley repeated his 2012 title run with a 6-3, 6-1 win over runner-up Yasser Kahn of Shoreline.

Newman then teamed up with Kory Anderson to take down the doubles title with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Spokane's duo of Ryan Herdt & Sam Jankovich.

Spokane's Wally Heidenson was named the Men's Coach of the Year. The championship marks Heidenson's sixth NWAACC title as head coach of the Sasquatch; he coached his first NWAACC championship team in 1982.
