NWAACC Track and Field Athletes of the Week #3

Male Track Athlete of the Week
Herschel Sanchey, Freshman, Spokane
Meet: Dusty Lane Open
Event: 3K steeple Mark: 9:31.94

Coaches' Comments: An absolutely incredible time for the steeple in March and then throw in the fact that he won by :22 seconds over athletes from Whitworth, WSU, and WWU plus it was his first steeple ever with no real steeple practice as we have had snow on the ground all winter.

Male Field Athlete of the Week
Scott Elliott, Freshman, Lane
Meet: U of Oregon Preview
Event: PV Mark: 15’7”

Coaches' Comments: Scott is consistently vaulting at a high level. Lane’s Pole Vault program will be even more impressive if the other vaulters they have competing unattached start representing the college.

Another coach wrote, “Scott improved his lifetime best to 15'07” on Saturday, placing third overall. He had a high school pr of 14'07”.”

Female Track Athlete of the Week
Brittany Henderson, Freshman, Clark
Meet: U of Oregon Preview
Event: 800 Mark: 2:15.98

Coaches' Comments: Though I did not actually have the opportunity to see this performance I was pleasantly surprised to see the results. This is a great mark.

Another coach wrote, “Very good in May so even more impressive in March.”

Female Field Athlete of the Week
Kelsey Strot, Freshman, Mt. Hood
Meet: U of Oregon Preview
Event: Shot Put Mark: 42’6.75” (12.97m)

Coaches' Comments: This is a very good mark at our level for any part of the season. This was a lifetime PR as well as a 2 foot season PR.
