Mt. Hood, Lower Columbia Remain Unbeaten; Day 2 Shortened by Rain

PORTLAND, Ore. - The top two seeds in #1 Mt. Hood and #2 Lower Columbia remained unbeaten in the 2026 NWAC Softball Championship as they each won their games on Friday on Day 2 at Delta Park. The day was shortened due to rain and field conditions, with the final two games postponed until Saturday morning.

The day opened with the first two loser's bracket games as #5 Spokane took on #8 Everett and #6 Walla Walla faced #7 Clackamas. Clackamas earned the first lower seed win of the tournament thus far as they defeated the Warriors 9-1 in five innings. After getting shutout the night before against LCC, the Cougars jumped out to a 9-0 lead after just the top of the first inning. Clackamas batted around as they saw 14 batters come to the plate, tallying eight hits and three walks. Kenzie West did the rest with a complete game, allowing just one run to the Warriors.

Spokane then edged Everett in the closest game of the tournament, needing to go to extra innings to do so. After stranding the go-ahead run on third in both the sixth and seventh, the Sasquatch finally scored the winning run in the eighth as Izabella Hernandez laid down a great bunt that resulted in an Everett error, bringing home Allison Lapano to earn the walk-off.

Moving back to the winner's bracket, Lower Columbia faced #3 Edmonds while Mt. Hood took on #4 SW Oregon. The Red Devils once again made quick work of their opponent, defeating the Tritons 10-0 in five innings by run rule. The Red Devils had 10 hits including two home runs by Alisyn Parkin providing all the run support that back-to-back South Region Pitcher of the Year Zoey Hughes would need. Hughes allowed just two hits and a walk while striking out five to earn the shutout.

In the other top-four matchup, Mt. Hood remained undefeated in the tournament with a 7-2 win over SWOCC. The Saints hit three home runs and then leaned on pitcher Gracie Huston, who had 10 strikeouts in the complete game gem.

Edmonds was schedule to take on Spokane while SW Oregon was set to face Clackamas at 4 p.m. on Friday, but weather and field conditions postponed those games to Saturday. The two games will now take place on Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. Stay up to date by checking the NWAC website and social media platforms for further updates.

The wins for Mt. Hood and Lower Columbia sets up a top-two matchup in the semifinals on Saturday. The game is schedule to take place at 5:30 p.m. at Delta Park. The winner will be one win away from claiming the 2026 title, while the loser must work their way back through the loser's bracket. The Red Devils and Saints are also the last two NWAC champions and split their season series 2-2.
