CBC Advances to Elite 8 with Dominant 69-46 Win Over Lower Columbia

PASCO, Wash. - The Columbia Basin Hawks defeated Lower Columbia 69-46 in game six of the 2025 NWAC Women's Basketball Championship presented by Golf Universe on Thursday on CBC's home Holden Court.

The Hawks trailed after the first quarter, but a dominant second quarter advantage of 16-6 propelled CBC to the lead which they never gave up.

Columbia Basin featured standout performances from several key players. Amber Swan was the top scorer, amassing 25 points and 7 rebounds Analyssa Maldonado contributed significantly with 10 points, 8 rebounds, and two steals. Sadie Tanner was a versatile force, leading the team with 16 points, 10 rebounds, 5 steals, and 5 assists. Baylie Voile added 11 points.

Columbia Basin (15-11) trailed Lower Columbia (17-10) by four points at the end of the first quarter, with a score of 15-11. CBC got off to a sluggish start offensively, shooting 4-for-16 from the floor.

In the second quarter, the Hawks outscored the Red Devils 16-6, turning around a five-point deficit early in the quarter. Columbia Basin made seven of 16 field goals, capitalizing with ten points in the paint. Defensively, they limited LCC to 3-for-17 shooting for the quarter.

In the third quarter, Columbia Basin outscored Lower Columbia 25-17, extending their lead. The Hawks shot efficiently, making eight of eleven field goals and converting 8-of-12 free throws. Columbia Basin closed things out with a strong 17-8 advantage in the fourth quarter, sealing a commanding performance.

West Region Player of the Year Karlee VonMoos led the team with a strong performance, securing 16 total rebounds and adding 12 points. Morgan Hamilton was a key offensive player, scoring 13 points on 6-for-13 from the field, while also leading the team in steals with four. Reigha Niemeyer added 10 points.

The Hawks move onto the Elite 8 round and will take on the South No. 2 seed Umpqua on Friday at 2 p.m.
